There's a bit of bad news for Nintendo Switch gamers — some of them are being locked out of their Monster Hunter Rise saves due to an unfortunate bug involving a DLC gesture.

Monster Hunter Rise is the newest game in the long-running franchise. This Nintendo Switch exclusive recently debuted, but it also apparently has a serious problem: a bug could render your save inaccessible.

"We’re aware of an issue with the Action/Hurt Pose DLC gestures where setting either to the action bar and quitting the game can cause an error preventing you from opening the same save file the next time you launch the game," read a tweet on the franchise's official account. "We’re working on an update to fix this ASAP."

For the moment, Capcom advises players that they should not set the Action/Hurt Pose DLC gestures to their action bar. If you happen to already have those gestures on your action bar and you can still get into the game, it's probably a good idea to remove it immediately before your save file is rendered inaccessible. You shouldn't set it to the radial menu either, so make sure you double-check before continuing with your game.

Monster Hunter Rise Sales Hit 4 Million

The Monster Hunter Rise saves bug is a pain in the butt for those affected, but there's some good news out there today, too — Monster Hunter Rise sales have exceeded 4 million units to date.

A press release from Capcom notes the surprising success of the game — 4 million copies less than a week after its release is a seriously strong start, especially for a game that doesn't quite have the same level of popularity as it does in its home country of Japan. Doubly so given it is a platform exclusive.

For now, though, it's best to be careful about how you're playing the game. Take care to avoid putting any of the troublesome gestures on your action bar or radial menu — you temporarily lose access to your save file if you happen to get hit with this bug.
