Mirror's Edge Catalyst Closed Beta Announced

With the official retail release of Mirror's Edge Catalyst only a few more short months away, developer DICE has officially announced a closed beta to ensure the game's launch is as smooth as it can be.

In an official blog post on the official Mirror's Edge website, game director Erik Odeldahl shares some more details on what the closed beta will entail. The closed beta, which will start on April 22nd and will run through April 26th, will be available to anyone who signed up (signups are now closed). If you have also signed up for the game's Frontrunner program, which is essentially a newsletter subscription, you may receive an invite one day sooner than the rest, if you are selected for participation.

During the beta, selected players will be able to test out the game's parkour mechanics, as well as play several missions from the game's main campaign and some side-missions. You will also be able to test out the game's Social Play features, which is the multiplayer component where the community can compete for the title of best runner in the city of Glass. This Social Play component features daily challenges, missions, and time trials that pit you against everyone else as you try to top the leaderboards. Players will also be able to create challenges themselves and share them with other players.

If you've been selected to participate in the closed beta, you will receive an email notification on April 22nd if you are a Frontrunner. If you didn't sign up for the Frontrunner program but did sign up for the closed beta when sign ups were open, you will receive an invite on April 23rd.

The Mirror's Edge Catalyst closed beta is available to selected players on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
