The Minecraft Dungeons Chills and Thrill event has arrived, and it's bringing a terrifying new addition to the game: invisible mobs. Yep, that's right — the absolute madlads at Mojang have added monsters that you can't see.

Minecraft Dungeons has debuted a brand-new seasonal event just in time for winter. As with similar events in other ARPGs, it appears that this one will modify the existing game with some new mechanics — and some cool new loot, too.

What's Coming in the Minecraft Dungeons Chills and Thrills Event

The Minecraft Dungeons Chills and Thrills event modifies the game's "Trials" system, adding six new winter-themed challenges for players to overcome. Three of these new trials were detailed in today's announcement. One trial changes the cooldown on artifacts and another includes a "changing number of chests." The most interesting one, however, will feature invisible mobs in some fashion.

"The event will have six new winter-themed trials with two new trial modifiers, including a changing number of chests, changing the cooldown on artifacts, and invisible mobs," read the event announcement. "Invisible mobs? For the sake of my nerves, I’m not going to dwell on that terrifying little tidbit."

What do you get as rewards? Players can snap up the Arctic Fox Armor, Frost Slayer sword, or Shivering Bow for their efforts. Each of these cool new items adds a wintery touch to your game.

You'll be able to play the Minecraft Dungeons Chills and Thrills event from December 18–30, 2020. After that, it probably won't return until next year — don't miss out! If you haven't yet picked up this great action RPG, you can buy Minecraft Dungeons via its official website starting at $19.99 or your regional equivalent.
