Today Mojang and Microsoft released a new developer diary video dedicated to their ultra-popular sandbox game Minecraft.
The video focuses on the camel, which will be one of the stars of the upcoming 1.20 major update, which still doesn't have a final name. Albeit it looks like it has a single hump, so shouldn't it be a dromedary? Oh well...
The video stars game director Agnes Larrssson, Bedrock gameplay developer Alexander Sandor, and and Java game developer Sofie Niska as they talk about the creation of the camel.
We learn how the team started with a very simple portrayal made mostly with existing assets and then proceeded to give the new mob unique behaviors like its ability to sit and just chill until it's attacked by a zombie, at which point, it will quickly scramble to its feet and panic.
Interestingly, Larrssson also teases an Easter Egg that apparently no one among those testing the new update has found just yet. It seems to be related to the Camel's super-cute animated ears. Your guess is pretty much as good as mine.
You can watch the video below.
If you've been living under a rock (or a block?) and you're not familiar with Minecraft, it's a massively-popular sandbox game currently published by Microsoft following its acquisition of Mojang on pretty literally every platform with a chip inside. I'd list them for you, but I've honestly lost count. The latest major patch, The Wild Update, was released a few months ago, and we're still waiting for new information on the next, which was introduced in October at Minecraft Live.
