Mojang and Microsoft have announced the Minecraft Caves and Cliffs update release date for Part 1. You'll be able to get your hands on new blocks, new creatures, and plenty more in both Minecraft Bedrock Edition and Java Edition on June 8th.
What's in the first part of the Minecraft Caves and Cliffs update?
The Minecraft Caves and Cliffs update is coming in two parts, with the second part arriving later this year. Next week's update will bring new animals in the form of the goat and the rather adorable axolotl. The glow squid is also making its debut in the Caves and Cliffs update, as well as new blocks like dripstone cave blocks, deepslate and ore variants, and glow lichen. Mojang says that some of these blocks will "just pop up in the world", while you'll have to dig a little deeper to discover the others. However, if you want to see all the new stuff without any restrictions, you can just jump into creative mode, where you'll be able to access everything.

The second part of the Minecraft Caves and Cliffs update is scheduled for the winter. It'll focus largely on world generation and will feature new biome placement, as well as new cave and mountain terrain and extra world height for that imposing mountain range feel. Mojang says the second part of the update poses a much more significant technical challenge, which is why it's been delayed until later this year. The studio also says it didn't want to spread world features across both updates so that players could acclimate to big changes all at once.
Minecraft's new Caves and Cliffs update Part 1 will be available to download on June 8th. It'll be available for both the Bedrock and Java editions, so whether you're playing on console, PC, or phone all you need to do is update your game and you'll get access to the new features. We'll bring you more as we get it about the second part and other Minecraft news.
