The Mighty Doom mobile game features our favorite Slayer, but he doesn't quite look like you'd expect. Yes, he still rips and tears with the best of 'em... but he's a little more adorable than we're used to.

Mighty Doom is a very real game — it even has a new trailer that was uploaded to Bethesda Softworks' YouTube channel just two days ago. Give it a watch and see this strange new game in action!

As Windows Central reports, this game has actually been on the Google Play store for a fair few months now. One YouTuber even uploaded some gameplay back in December of 2020; unfortunately, that particular gameplay video has the framerate of a PowerPoint slideshow.

Still, the addition of a new, polished trailer suggests that Mighty Doom might get a wider public reveal soon. The game is noted as being developed by Bethesda Softworks on Google Play — but it's likely actually being developed by Alpha Dogs, a mobile game studio owned by Bethesda. By all accounts, this is a very real project.

The above trailer shows off a cutesy top-down shooter featuring the Slayer and there's a fair bit more to this game than you might think. All of the shooting is done with single-touch controls. Naturally, you have access to a whole bunch of weapons and there's even a crafting system in the game, too.

When is the Mighty Doom Release Date?

Unfortunately, a Mighty Doom release date has not yet been revealed. That's no surprise considering that the game is still in Early Access and has yet to be publicly revealed or commented on by Bethesda Softworks.

We do have access to the Google Play store page, but that doesn't help much, either — I'm unable to install the game just yet, and I imagine you probably can't install it, either. We also don't yet know if it will be a free-to-play game or a paid experience, but my gut (and the realities of modern mobile development) leads me to think that this will probably be a free-to-play game, for better or for worse.

Either way, that new YouTube trailer means that we could see Mighty Doom revealed as early as next week. Considering the success that Bethesda had with Fallout Shelter, it might actually end up doing pretty well in the long run.

What do you think of the Mighty Doom mobile game? Does the gameplay interest you or do you prefer the first-person shooter gameplay of the originals? Let us know in the comments below!
