Middle-earth: Shadow of War has received its first major story expansion. The expansion, which is titled Blade of Galadriel, allows players to take control of the lithe Elven assassin Eltariel in a new story campaign set after the events of the main game.
According to a press release from publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Eltariel comes equipped with her own unique combat animations, orc-slaying abilities, and gear. During her journey, Eltariel will encounter brand new Nemesis orcs and she’ll even be able to recruit eight new Legendary tier orcs who can also be utilized in the main campaign once they’re recruited. Completing the new Blade of Galadriel story campaign will also unlock an Eltariel character skin for use in the base game’s campaign.
You can watch a new story trailer for Blade of Galadriel below, but be warned that it contains minor spoilers for the base Shadow of War campaign.
Along with the release of Blade of Galadriel, developer Monolith Productions has also added a new free update to Middle-earth: Shadow of War. The update, which is free to download for all players, adds in several new enhancements including upgrades for the game’s Photo Mode, a detailed player stats page, additional field of view options, the ability to upgrade orc followers with training orders while in the garrison, and new active traits for Nemesis orcs which can be randomly assigned and include the following:
- Tunnel Rat – Orcs can burrow into the ground and summon Ghûls.
- Sniper Shot – Archers can fire from great distances with pinpoint accuracy.
- Tremor – Ologs can pound the earth with tremendous force, staggering nearby threats and heavily damaging structures.
- Gifts of Treasure – Followers can now bring players the gift of a Treasure Orc, providing even more ways to earn Gems and Mirian.
