The Microsoft Flight Simulator World Update 6 release date has been delayed to September 2021 in order to give the developers more time to reach a "very high level of quality" on PC and Xbox.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is the newest game in the flight sim franchise that stretches back nearly 40 years. The game was first launched a little more than a year ago and has since had a number of content updates, most recently with some improvements to the game's training systems and world exploration. Unfortunately, a new development update notes that World Update 6 is going to be delayed into next month.
Why Was Microsoft Flight Simulator World Update 6 Delayed?
Microsoft Flight Simulator World Update 6 was delayed due to unspecified issues with its quality. To put it simply, the developers need a little more time to get things right.
"In order to ensure that World Update 6 reaches a very high level of quality, we have decided to move back the release date to September 7th," read a statement in today's development update. "We are very excited about this update as it features many enhancements to the region, including new aerials and elevation maps, new photogrammetry cities, 4 hand-crafted airports, nearly 100 POIs and new discovery flights, landing challenges, and bush trips. It’s a ton of content and we want to make sure that it will be great."
A number of highlights from this upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator patch were shared to give us an idea of what's on the way. Sadly, these tidbits from the upcoming patch notes don't mention any particularly cool new features aside from what's detailed in the preceding statement, although the list does show that quite a few crashes and bugs have been fixed in the next patch.
