Third-party developers have provided news about add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator, focusing on aircraft.

We start with Militech Simulations, which released an update of its excellent MV-22 Osprey VTOL tilt-rotor aircraft. Not only update 1.1 brings a lot of improvement to what's already a very good add-on, but we hear that the aircraft will be released on the official marketplace for PC "shortly."

Those flying on Xbox Series X|S will have to wait a little longer. According to the same announcement, the Osprey will be released on the console later this year, after Sim Update 12. That's currently scheduled for March.

Below you can check out a few images of the update and a changelog.

  • MAWS (Missile Approach Warning System) added as model, FLIR Camera model improved
  • Further Exterior and Interior Modeling Improvements, re-designed cockpit model, landing gear, cargo bay, ramp door.
  • MFD C/A Button with maps on issue fixed
  • Texturing Improvements (Interior)
  • Issues with UV Mapping on the Tail (distorted textures)
  • Loud "wind noise" at high speeds (>250 knots)
  • Sounds issues during startup
  • Sound Improvements
  • Cockpit piercing glass on external model fixed
  • Flight Path Marker is fundamentally wrong fixed
  • New pilot model
  • “Reset all systems to fly” Button on CDU, to reset all failures in the case of engine failure due to overstress or prop crash into the ground.
  • Wheel Chocks, Pitot Covers
  • Nav & Flight Planning UI pages added to CDU, functionality still WIP
  • Gearbox Temps fixed
  • Aircraft not recognized by ATC as V-22 or Osprey.
  • Rightmost MFD issues with BFWS Procedures fixed

We also hear from SimWorks Studios, which is performing the "final checks" on its Van's Aircraft RV-10. If everything checks out, it will be released within the next couple of weeks.

Here's what we can expect, and a few new screenshots.

"The SWS Van's RV-10 will come with a very accurate 3D model, five custom liveries and a custom interior by Aerosports Products. The flight model was created by MrTommyMxr of DA-62 mod fame and is as close as  you can get to flying the real thing, checked against flight data and POHs by real RV-10 pilots. Sounds were recorded from a real RV-10 whose paint job is -as always-included in the package."

Microsoft Flight Simulator is currently available for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Cloud Gaming, including Game Pass.
