Microsoft Flight Simulator Canada Update red plane flies around Canada.

Time to pull out the maple syrup and practice your ehs, because the Microsoft Flight Simulator Canada update has just been released. It might not be as cool as the upcoming helicopter update, but this should hold you over until then. The 11th world update adds 5 handcrafted airports and 9 new missions that include 3 bush trips, 3 landing challenges, and 3 discovery flights. It sounds like a pretty beefy update, so let's take a closer look at it, shall we?

What else should I know about the Microsoft Flight Simulator Canada update?

There's a lot to do up in Canada, although the five airports are probably the most anticipated inclusions in the update, so let's get those out of the way first:

  • British Columbia’s Castlegar / West Kootenay Regional Airport (CYCG)
  • Victoria International Airport
  • Vancouver Island
  • Iqaluit International Airport
  • Toronto Pearson International Airport

I've only ever been to the Pearson Airport, so if I ever get around to checking this game out it'll be neat seeing the other four Canadian airports from the air. The Iqaluit International Airport is an interesting choice, but it's definitely one that most people haven't heard of, let alone been to, so that's a neat inclusion.

Flying on to the 9 new missions included in the Microsoft Flight Simulator Canada update, they're also listed below:

  • Three bush trips (Vancouver Island, Newfoundland, and the Canadian Rockies)
  • Three landing challenges (Castlegar, Barkerville, and Calgary)
  • Three discovery flights (Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto).
Microsoft Flight Simulator Canada update shows off a city and some cool sights to see.
That's a lot of igloos.

As for new data being added to the update, there are 12 new urban regions that include 87 hand-crafted points of interest. So, if you always wanted to check out the CN Tower but never made the trip in person, that should hopefully be included in the latest Microsoft Flight Simulator update.

If all of this sounds interesting enough to play, you're in luck because this update is free. All you need to do is update your account and download World Update 11 from the in-game marketplace. Once that's done, you'll be inundated by the sounds of ice skating and the smells of fresh Tim Horton's timbits. Well, not really, but that'd be pretty neat, eh?
