State of Decay 2

State of Decay was a mostly well liked Xbox 360 and PC game that did better than anyone expected. Microsoft introduced the follow-up, State of Decay 2, during their press conference this year. Developed by Undead Labs and published by Microsoft, this game appears to be attempting to be a worthy sequel.

The trailer started with some people driving down a highway, hitting zombies with their car before stopping at a diner. It then cuts to gameplay, showing off the world and characters exploring. There's some brief shots of violence committed on Zombies before a woman, cornered by all the zombies, shoots up a flare calling for help.

The game allows you to either play alone or work with other players, building a community as you go along. It also promises individual stories and a world that "remembers your actions" as you play. There's no one "hero" in State of Decay 2 as you can play as each member of your community and each character will have their own unique skills to bring to the table.

While every character has skills, you can help develop them and teach characters new skills. You can then elevate your survivors and turn them into leaders, which lets them help shape how your community of survivors runs. You can't just leave your community alone and wander off all the time, as you need to work to keep your community happy and building in a direction that you want them to go.

State of Decay 2 will also feature up to four player co-op. You can invite players to join your game world or drop into their game world when you want to, allowing you to assist with building the community of other players while still letting you keep control of your own.

State of Decay 2 will be launching sometime in 2017 on Xbox One and Windows 10.
