The Metro Exodus release date has been moved up a week and the game's title sequence has been revealed alongside this announcement.

Metro Exodus is set to be the next game in the Metro series of first-person shooters based on Dmitry Glukhovsky's Metro 2033 novels. Unlike the previous games, Metro Exodus is set to be a good deal less linear in its level design. This will afford players many more opportunities to explore the world of post-apocalyptic Russia.

We're also getting a first look at the game's title sequence in addition to the news of the Metro Exodus release date being moved up a week. Check it out!

This fantastic title sequence is set to an original score by composer Alexey Omelchuk according to a tweet on the game's official Twitter account. The camera pans through various frozen ruins, showing humans and monsters that have completely been turned to ice. Finally, the title sequence pans out to show a frozen train on a railroad. We can't be quite sure whether this is a lead-up to the game's events or an ominous portent of what could happen if you fail. It's created by Elastic, who have created openings for Game of Thrones and Westworld in recent years.

As mentioned above, the major piece of news released is the shift in the Metro Exodus release date. Originally, the plan was for the third entry in the franchise to come out on February 22, 2019. It's now been moved up a week to February 15, 2019.

“Our fans have been waiting patiently for Metro Exodus ever since we announced the title at E3 2017,” said Klemens Kundratitz, CEO at Deep Silver. “We had previously delayed the release date to ensure 4A Games had the time to deliver their ambitious vision for the game, but now we’re delighted to confirm that Metro Exodus has ‘gone gold’ and we are able to bring the release date forward to the 15th February 2019.”
We reviewed both Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux and we'll definitely be checking this one out as soon as we can! If you want to pre-order the third chapter in this terrifying series, you can pre-order Metro Exodus on PC via Steam for $59.99 or your regional equivalent. Console gamers can place a pre-order at the Microsoft Store for the Xbox One and at the PlayStation Store for the PlayStation 4. The Metro Exodus release date is February 15, 2019.
