Megaton Musashi: Wired

Today, During the Level-5 Vision 2023 presentation, the developer finally announced the western release of its mecha game Megaton Musashi, titled Megaton Musashi: Wired

Megaton Musashi: Wired is an international version of the original Megaton Musashi, and it'll come with additional content.

It'll release for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam in 2023 with cross-play support. That's great since multiplayer co-op plays a big role in the game.

The game is part of a multimedia franchise that also includes a rather awesome anime, and it's inspired by the super robot anime of old, letting players play the role of a colorful team of pilots fighting against the classic alien invasion with the help of their faithful mecha.

There's a ton of customization available, and we even get to enjoy classic super robots like Mazinger Z, Getter Robot, UFO Robot Grendizer (which francophones may know as Goldorak, while in Italy it's known as Goldrake), Combattler V, and Voltes V. These classic robots are certainly going to help sell the game in the west, as they represented the first contact with anime for many fans of my generation when we were kids.

The original game was released in Japan in 2021 for PS4 and Nintendo Switch, and was never localized. A PS5 version was also announced at some point, but it was quietly discarded without a real explanation. Looks like it's finally coming back alongside a very welcome PC version.

Below you can check out a trailer and get excited about this title, a localization of which many have been waiting for a long time.

Incidentally, if you're interested in UFO Robot Grendizer, it's getting its own game soon, courtesy of Microids, titled UFO Robot Grendizer: The Feast of the Wolves.
