The Game Awards 2019 have officially begun, and they've begun with the announcement of new DLC for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3. The second DLC pack, known as X-Men: Rise of Phoenix, is releasing December 23rd and offers a new mode, in addition to X-Men themed content.
The announcement trailer for the DLC gives players a good look at the four new characters in action, all from the X-Men franchise. Players will be able to control the bo staff-wielding card shark Gambit, the fiery Phoenix, the frosty Iceman, and Cable, the psychic son of Cyclops. We also get a look at the new Danger Room mode, where up to four players compete to have their teams of superheroes defeat the most enemies while dealing barrages of buffs and debuffs. Finally, new Gauntlet missions will be available, with some of them focusing on the Dark Phoenix saga, one of the most well-known X-Men story arcs. Even if you don't buy the DLC pack, players will get to enjoy new outfits for their characters in a free update.
X-Men: Rise of Phoenix will be available for purchase on December 23rd if you buy the Expansion Pass for $19.99. The first DLC pack, Curse of the Vampire, is already out and is themed around the Marvel Knights (a loose-knit group of vigilantes including Punisher, Daredevil, and Black Widow.) The third pack, Shadow of Doom, releases sometime next spring and will focus on the Fantastic Four.
