Another blow has been dealt in the ongoing war between Marvel and Fox over the few remaining heroes that aren't welcome into the MCU.

As announced on the game's official forums, the entire Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer will be unavailable for purchase on July 1st. In addition, all costumes for those characters, all costumes relating to events from Fantastic Four history, and the H.E.R.B.I.E. pet reward will be removed from the game. Interestingly, Dr. Doom will not be stripped out of the game, but this may be due to his prominent place in the story mode and his shift to being a more general Marvel villain in the comics in recent years. The full list of affected costumes is duplicated below.

This news comes just days after a producer on the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite explained the game's lack of X-Men characters in a GameSpot interview by stating that modern Marvel fans "don't even remember some of the X-Men characters, but they know some of the Guardians characters or Black Panther." The movie rights for both X-Men and Fantastic Four are currently owned by Fox.

What do you think about Marvel's ongoing efforts to hurt Fox's movie properties? Do you think Gazillion will be forced to strip X-Men characters out of the game next? Let us know in the comments below!
