Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are both making their debut in China in just a few days and they're going to include some sweet pre-order bonuses.
Niko Partners Senior Analyst Daniel "ZhugeEX" Ahmad posted about the launch on Twitter. Following approval from China's stringent gaming regulator, both titles will be publicly released in just a few days.
As a bonus, anyone who pre-orders these games can snap up some neat physical goodies. Mario Kart owners will get a neat sticker set (seen below). As for Super Mario Odyssey, you'll get a passport cover of all things. I guess you'll be all set if you ever want to visit the Mushroom Kingdom!
Can You Play Chinese Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in the West?
If you're keen on picking up this Chinese-language game for your friends in the West, you're probably going to have to really like them — you would need to buy them a new console, too.
While the Nintendo Switch has generally not been region-locked, that's not the case for the Chinese version of the console. These upcoming ports done in partnership with Tencent will only work with a Chinese Nintendo Switch, Mr. Ahmad confirms. While you could probably also get your hands on that console, it's a big stretch to grab a couple of games that have been out in the West for years now.
Chinese gamers will be able to pick up both titles on March 17, 2020, assuming they haven't already gotten it in more grey market overseas imports as many have.
