Skyhill developer Mandragora has announced a new projectSkyhill: Black Mist is a followup to 2015's dark survival horror game. It'll be released for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC sometime this year, although we're not sure when yet.

Mandragora says the new game isn't quite a straight sequel to SkyhillBlack Mist will be "connected in storyline and things happening in the same universe", but won't be a direct followup. After creating action roguelike Freaky Awesome, Mandragora's Eugene Kisterev says the team "found [its] strengths" more in the dark and mysterious setting of Skyhill. The new game will cast players as a parent whose daughter has been kidnapped. The player awakens inside a huge interconnected building overrun by monsters and cultists. The objective is to find your daughter and survive against the titular monstrous, encroaching black mist.

Unlike its predecessor, Skyhill: Black Mist is played from an isometric perspective. Mandragora is promising "real-time gameplay...mixed with a lot of tactical decisions". The trailer also shows off some stealth mechanics and resource-gathering, as well as a crafting system. Mandragora says the game is a return to the survival genre, so expect some survival mechanics too. Outside of that, we don't know too much about Skyhill: Black Mist's gameplay systems. Stay tuned for more on this game as we get it.

Skyhill: Black Mist will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch sometime this year. The original Skyhill was also recently released on Nintendo Switch, having secured a PS4 and Xbox One release late last year. You can check out TechRaptor's review of Skyhill's Switch release right here. There was more than enough potential in Skyhill to have us hyped for a potential sequel, so we'll be watching this one with interest.
