EA Sports continues their Madden 16 ratings reveal for the top players by position and today they revealed the Safeties. The top players are as follows:

1. Eric Weddle: 96 Overall - 84 Speed, 83 Tackling, 77 Hit Power, 94 Play Recognition, and 91 Zone Coverage. Weddle produced one of his best seasons in his career. He earns the top rating for all Safeties in Madden.

2. Earl Thomas: 95 Overall - 90 Speed, 75 Tackling, 72 Hit Power, 83 Play Recognition, 96 Zone Coverage and 83 Man Coverage. Thomas has consistently been at the top of list for best Safeties. He combines the best of both worlds; fantastic in coverage and excellent in stopping the run.

3. Kam Chancellor: 94 Overall - 83 Speed, 85 Tackling, 97 Hit Power, 77 Play Recognition, and 83 Zone Coverage. Chancellor is the second part of the best Safety duo in football. Fearless and one of the best tacklers in the game today.

4. Devin McCourty: 94 Overall - 90 Speed, 87 Play Recognition, 87 Play Recognition, 96 Zone Coverage, and 87 Man Coverage. A former Cornerback, it's no surprise McCourty is one of the best coverage Safeties in the game. Great instincts and quickness make him one of the best.

5. Harrison Smith: 93 Overall - 86 Speed, 92 Hit Power, 85 Play Recognition, 92 Zone Coverage, and 75 Man Coverage. Smith has been a relative unknown until his fantastic season last year. Another solid coverage guy, but can also come up close and lay the hit on opposing runners.

In Comparison, last years top 5 were Jairus Byrd (96 Overall), Earl Thomas (95 Overall), Devin McCourty (94 Overall), Eric Weddle (94 Overall) and Troy Polamalu (93 Overall). We have a small change for Madden 16 as Eric Weddle makes his case for the top Free Safety after having a fantastic season. Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor are again at the top, solidifying them as the best Safety duo in the NFL.
