What has Daedalic Entertainment got in its pocketses? Could it be a The Lord of the Rings: Gollum release date? Yes indeed. The narrative-driven stealth action-adventure game will launch for PC and consoles in September, with a Switch version also planned for this year.
When is this The Lord of the Rings: Gollum release date?
Last year, it was announced that The Lord of the Rings: Gollum would launch sometime in fall 2022. Now, thanks to Daedalic Entertainment and publisher Nacon, we have a concrete The Lord of the Rings: Gollum release date. You'll be able to get your hands on Gollum's adventure, which will take him through the many and varied lands of Middle-Earth, on September 1st. That's when Gollum is launching for PC, PlayStation consoles, and Xbox platforms. A Switch release is also planned, but we don't have a concrete release date for that yet.

What is The Lord of the Rings: Gollum?
Originally announced all the way back in 2019, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is a stealth action-adventure game with a strong narrative focus. It's being developed by Deponia and Blackguards studio Daedalic Entertainment and is being co-published by Daedalic and Nacon. Gollum takes place after Gollum loses the One Ring to Bilbo Baggins during the events of The Hobbit and follows Gollum as he makes his way through Middle-Earth, passing through iconic locations like Mirkwood and the dungeons of Barad-dûr. The game was originally slated to launch in 2021, but was subsequently delayed, so it's fair to say fans have been waiting a good while for this one.
Gameplay-wise, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will prioritize stealth and sneaky trickery over outright aggression, as you'd expect from a creature as cunning as Gollum. You'll need to use your environment to sneak past your enemies, hiding in bushes and watching patrol routes carefully. There will also be climbing and platforming sections similar to the Uncharted games, as well as moments where you'll need to navigate conversations between the alter-egos of Gollum and Smeagol, both of whom have different perspectives. Naturally, you'll also meet lots of famous faces from Tolkien's books as you adventure through Middle-Earth as well.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum launches for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox on September 1st, with a Nintendo Switch version coming "later this year", according to a Daedalic press release. If you're a Lord of the Rings fan, there's plenty in the world of gaming right now to get you excited; between new Middle-Earth Strategy Battle game releases, a brand new mobile RPG in Heroes of Middle-Earth, and Gollum, you need never leave Tolkien's world. We'll bring you more on Gollum as soon as we get it.
