Mipumi Games, creator of the narrative adventure The Lion's Song, has announced its next project. The Flower Collectors is a noir-style detective mystery set in post-Franco Spain.
In The Flower Collectors, you'll take on the role of Jorge, a wheelchair-bound retired police officer with a dark past. Jorge passes the time by watching the world from his balcony. One night, Jorge witnesses a murder and teams up with ambitious journalist Melinda to uncover the truth. Between them, Jorge and Melinda must solve a complex mystery and uncover the secrets of those implicated in the murder. You can check out the teaser trailer for The Flower Collectors below:
Mipumi Games says The Flower Collectors' main inspirations are Alfred Hitchcock's film Rear Window and 2016's outdoorsy narrative adventure Firewatch. The devs say the game will emphasize "characters, world-building and narrative" over traditional skill-based challenges. It sounds like The Flower Collectors won't be taxing your reflexes too much, so this'll be the perfect game to settle into if you're after a story-heavy experience. There's still a murder mystery to solve, and Mipumi says you'll meet a host of compelling characters in the political powder keg that is Barcelona in the 1970s. If you're a fan of Blacksad, you'll also enjoy the anthropomorphized animals that make up The Flower Collectors' principal cast.
We don't yet have a release window for The Flower Collectors. Until we know more about the game, you can wishlist it over on Steam. If this seems like entirely your jam, then Episode One of Mipumi's The Lion's Song is currently free on Steam, so go check that out to see if The Flower Collectors will scratch the same itch.
