Today Sega released another video about the upcoming Like a Dragon: Ishin!, which is finally launching in the west after years of requests by the fans of the Yakuza series.
It's worth reminding that is not exactly the same game titled Ryu Ga Gotoku: Ishin! released only in Japan in 2014 for PS3 and PS4. It's actually a pretty extensive remake similar to the Yakuza Kiwami games. In fact, the Japanese version is titled "Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin! Kiwami."
One of the many changes introduced with the remake is that a few of the characters have been recast to give them the likeness and voice of popular ones from Yakuza 0, which was released after the original Ishin. One of these is Ito Kashitaro, who this time around gets the voice and face of Hitoshi Ozawa. Originally, he was played by Goh Hamazaki.
It's a similar change to what we have seen with Takeda Kanryusai in yesterday's video.
In today's video, we get to see a conversation between Ryu Ga Gotoku studio head Masayoshi Yokoyama and Ozawa-san, who talks about coming back to the series and bringing back a Bakumatsu-period version of his Yakuza 0 character, Daisaku Kuze.
We also hear about bringing the game for the first time to the west and the fact that Ozawa-san had to match his performance to the previous actor in order to achieve a good lip sync, which he didn't have to do for Yakuza 0, but is quite normal for someone who dubs movies.
You can watch the video below.
Like a Dragon: Ishin! releases on February 21, 2023 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
