Level-5 Announces Lady Layton, Inazuma Eleven Ares, & More

A series of new games including Lady Layton: The Millionaire Ariadone's Conspiracy, Inazuma Eleven AresMegaton Musashi, and The Snack World were recently announced at Level-5's Vision 2016: New Heroes event according to a press release. Here's the Japanese trailer for Lady Layton:


The "Vision" event is annually run by the Japanese-based developer and publisher Level-5. This year's theme is "New Heroes" and centers around the introduction of several new characters among their upcoming titles.

Lady Layton: The Millionaire Ariadone's Conspiracy [Japanese Site] is the latest title in the Professor Layton series of games. This is the first game that will feature Katrielle "Kat" Layton (Professor Layton's daughter) as the main character. The focus of this new game will shift from solving individual puzzles to solving mysteries in the everyday lives of people living in London. It will also introduce many brand new characters to the Professor Layton universe. This title will be released in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS, iOS, and Android in Spring 2017. Level-5 is aiming for a 2017 release in Western markets.

The Snack World [Japanese Site] is a cross-media project slated to be released on Android/iOS in April 2017 and Nintendo 3DS in July 2017. It's a fantasy RPG that's placed in a setting closer to the modern world. While the usual RPG fare of Inns and Weapons Shops exist there are also staples of the modern world such as vending machines, corner shops, and cafés. An accompanying television series for The Snack World will begin airing on TV Tokyo in April 2017. A comic book series and toy line will be released around the same time. The Snack World is expected to make its way to the rest of the world but the release date is currently undetermined.

Inazuma Eleven Ares [Japanese Site] is the seventh title in the Inazuma Eleven series of sports role-playing games. The story continues immediately after the conclusion of the first Inazuma Eleven game and is a "parallel story" (or "side story") to the core plot of the previous titles. Inazuma Eleven Ares will feature 11 new members of the main football team and center around three different protagonists. Characters from the previous games will make appearances. An accompanying Inazuma Eleven Ares TV series and toy line will follow the game's Japanese release at some point in Summer 2017. The Western release for Inazuma Eleven Ares is yet to be determined.

The final major title detailed is Megaton Musashi [Japanese site]. Megaton Musashi delivers a mix of everyday school life interspersed with giant robots beating each other senseless in the finest tradition of anime tropes. Megaton Musashi will also be a "cross-media" project similar to The Snack World.Megaton Musashi anime is planned and you can watch some footage from the Megaton Musashi pilot episode (albeit in Japanese) on its website or on Level-5's YouTube Channel. Plans for Western released are to be determined.

Five other titles were announced with minimal details: Otomé HEROYO-KAI Watch for SmartphonesYO-KAI DAIJITENYO-KAI WATCH Geraporhythm, and FANTASY LIFE 2 Twin Moons and the Sacred Village. The release dates for these titles has not yet been announced and there are currently no plans for Western releases of these games.

Level-5 is perhaps best known for the Professor Layton series of games. Notable titles in the company's history included games such as Ni No KuniWhite Knight Chronicles and Dark Cloud.
