Warner Bros. announced it's trying its hand in the ToysToLife market with LEGO: Dimensions for Wii U, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360. The game is reported to combine many different LEGO style universes. So far 6 universes have been shown: Back to the Future, The Lord of the Rings, The Wizard of Oz, DC Comics, LEGO Ninjago, and The LEGO Movie. More universes will be announced in the future.

Warner Bros. also announced various expansion packs for the new series. Below can be seen the standard starter pack for all consoles.

LEGO-DimensionsStarter Pack

This starter pack comes with a LEGO Toy Pad, which is used to bring the characters into the game by touching figurines to the Toy Pad. Also included is a Batmobile, along with Batman, Gandalf, and Wyldstyle (is she a DJ?) from the LEGO Movie, and a LEGO Gateway.

The announcement trailer shows off the different worlds the game will use, but does not mention if you will receive Joel McHale if you pre order the game. In the Extended version, a pink donut (possibly The Simpsons?) and a GhostBusters PKE meter are also featured.

Expansions come in three flavors: Team Packs, Level Packs, and Fun Packs. These bring new characters, vehicles, weapons, and levels to LEGO: Dimensions. Seen below are a Ninjago Team Pack with Cole and Kai figurines, a Back to the Future Level Pack that comes with Marty McFly, a DeLorean, a HoverBoard, and a new game level entitled "A Hill Valley Time Travel Adventure", and a LEGO Movie Fun Pack with Spaceman Benny and a spaceship.

LEGO-Dimensions PacksThe basic premise of LEGO: Dimensions is that an evil man in a helmet (possibly President Business) has been tearing rifts between all the LEGO worlds and has taken Gandalf, Batman, and Wyldstyle's friends.

  • Journey through worlds and team up with unlikely allies, because the only rule with LEGO Dimensions is that there are no rules.

What do you think of LEGO: Dimensions? Will you be looking into it, or is this one ToysToLife too many? Do you find it any better or lesser or franchise than Skylanders, Disney Infinite or possibly amiibo? And what franchises do you want to see make it into LEGO: Dimensions?
