Layton's Mystery Journey has been given a rating on Nintendo Switch by the ESRB. The game's full Switch title appears to be Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy - Deluxe Edition. Try saying that one fast five times.

The game is the seventh mainline Professor Layton title. It follows a new protagonist, Katrielle Layton, as she searches for her father, the eponymous Professor Layton. She's aided in her journey by her talking dog Sherl, as well as her friends Emiliana Perfetti and Ernest Greeves. The Nintendo Switch version of Layton's Mystery Journey was originally exclusive to Japan (before appearing in Korea), but ratings have previously appeared in Germany and Australia, suggesting a Western release has been on the cards for some time.

The ESRB has given the Switch version of Layton's Mystery Journey an E (for "Everyone") rating. This is in line with the 3DS version of the game, which received the same rating. Content descriptors - and, indeed, the rating summary - are identical. Players of Layton's Mystery Journey should, according to the ESRB, look out for "comic mischief, mild language, mild violence". The summary includes chalk outlines of bodies, references to murder and suicide, and the occurrence of the word "hell" in the game's dialogue. These aren't particularly controversial inclusions, but the E for Everyone rating does only apply to those over the age of 10.

Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy was originally released for mobile platforms back in July 2017. The game also came out for Nintendo 3DS in July in Japan, but Westerners had to wait a few months, with the game securing a Western 3DS release in October. Following this, a Nintendo Switch version was released in Japan in August 2018, with a Korean Switch release following in March this year. The Switch version of Layton's Mystery Journey is an enhanced version of the game that allows players to switch between conventional controls and touch input.

We don't yet know exactly when we can expect Layton's Mystery Journey on Switch over here. We'll let you know a concrete release date as soon as we have one.
