The latest Rimworld update is 1.3.3101 and includes a "long list of new stuff and improvements for the base game and both expansions". Of these, the most notable addition is being able to change ideoligions. Before, players would start a new game and choose an ideoligion that's stable and have a specific belief. Now, players can choose a simple and minimal ideoligion to begin their game with. Besides this addition there's also a whole bunch of other changes and improvements, so lets get to them, shall we?
What's in the latest Rimworld update?
To start, you can change ideoligions through development points by earning them through rituals and doing specific things that satisfy the core tenets of your beliefs. Once done and with enough development points players can reform your ideoligion and alter memes, styles, precepts, along with anything else you might think of. As you do this, the overall complexity and intensity of your belief system will slowly increase throughout your game.
Perhaps most importantly for prior players is that the update should be compatible with all saves (unlike a certain Black Mesa update) and mods, so if you're worried about that rest easy. You're covered.
Other things added to the update are darklight braziers, predators no longer hunt animals on the other side of fences (although they can still randomly wander into animal pens), and an alert can be added to, well, alert the player when an animal has wandered into an animal pen.
Players can now also choose a few items to bring with them to a new archonexus settlement, which is apparently great if you need luciferium. There's also a grace period now where expectation levels won't increase for pawns and certain ideology roles after starting a new archnonexus settlement to give you some breathing room.
As for notable improvements, on the ritual configuration window you'll now be able to draw a highlight over pawns that can then be assigned to a role your mouse is currently hovering over. If you start an ideoligion that dislikes animal bonding, you'll now have all starting animals as unbonded, and if you destroy rocks with weapons, it now triggers a bad thought for ideoligions where mining is disapproved of.
