Beamdog CEO Trent Oster has revealed that his company pitched a KOTOR remake of its own called The Reforged Collection. Unfortunately, the pitch was ultimately turned down.

Earlier this month, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake was revealed as one of the many game announcements in the PlayStation Showcase. It's something that's needed to happen for a long time and fans are sure to be excited about heading back into the world of The Old Republic.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is being developed by Aspyr Media from the ground up. It was a wonderful surprise, but what's even more surprising is the fact that this wasn't the only potential developer for tackling such a difficult project.

The KOTOR Remake That Never Was

Beamdog CEO Trent Oster recently revealed that he had pitched a KOTOR remake of his own. Titled The Reforged Collection, it would have aimed to accomplish many of the same goals that Aspyr Media is going for with its take on the Star Wars universe.

"Huge congratulations to our friends at @AspyrMedia on announcing #KOTORRemake[,]" read a Twitter thread from Oster. "Now we finally know who beat us to it."

"Here's a peek at our failed pitch: (The Reforged Collection). I always find it sad to look at failed pitches after the fact and think about the hard work that went into building them."

Oster hints that Beamdog may have attempted to acquire the rights to publish this game at one point. His company, too, was aiming for a remake rather than a remaster, so it certainly would have been a step up from the originals.

Thinking about what could have been is a bit depressing, though, and Trent Oster doesn't want to share any more of the failed pitch beyond the one screenshot he posted to Twitter. We'll probably still end up with something great with Aspyr's take, though -- Oster is certainly confident in their abilities.

"While we had planned on a Remake, I think what is much more important is that @AspyrMedia is making a KotoR game," Trent Oster continued. "Fans will have a KotoR game and that is a wonderful thing."

"I'm confident the Aspyr crew will do great work."

Would you have wanted to see Beamdog try its hand at making a KOTOR remake? Do you think Aspyr Media will do a good job with the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake? Let us know in the comments below!
