Whether it's the iconic flash gaming site Kongregate.com, the new online storefront Kartridge, or one of the company's published titles, CEO and co-founder of Kongregate Emily Greer had a hand in it. Now, after over a decade at the company, Greer is stepping down from her position.

Emily Greer is departing from Kongregate on good terms and plans to pursue a new opportunity in the gaming industry. She says that she is leaving the company in good hands. Pany Haritatos, currently the COO of Kongregate, will take over Greer's duties as the new CEO.

Meanwhile, Kongregate's parent company is expressing interest in Greer's next project. The press release reads: "MTG is in discussions to invest in Emily’s new venture through their VC fund backing gaming start-ups."

Greer leaves a strong legacy behind as she moves into a new, undisclosed role in the industry. She and her brother Jim Greer founded Kongregate in 2006. The website quickly became a popular space to play flash games.

In the past few years, Kongregate has branched out as a games publisher and creator of the online storefront, Kartridge. Games such as Speed Brawl and the recent Hell is Other Demons (check out our review) are a few of the company's published titles. In 2017, she was one of GamesIndustry.biz's people of the year.

Emily Greer is an industry veteran with the backing of a big company, so whatever she does next is sure to be interested. Stay tuned for when more details transpire.

Quick Take

I have put hundreds of hours into games on Kongregate.com. Being a member of the site since 2008, I've had the opportunity to interact with Emily and Jim Greer. I'm excited to see what she does next. I do enjoy seeing how far Kongregate has come, from a humble flash gaming site to a publisher and competitor with Steam.
