Simulation game Kingdom: New Lands is currently free on the Epic Games Store. It'll be available to download at no cost until June 13th, when it'll be replaced by Enter the Gungeon.
Kingdom: New Lands casts players as a king or queen setting out to create a new kingdom. Players must collect coins in order to hire soldiers and townsfolk, as well as to build defenses against monsters. If your kingdom is invaded and a monster steals your crown, it's game over. The kingdom itself plays out largely independently; although you can influence what happens by spending gold, you can't directly control your realm. Whether it sounds like your bag or not, hey - it's free, so why not go check it out?
Starting from June 13th, the free Epic Games Store title will be roguelike dungeon-crawler Enter the Gungeon. You'll descend into the titular Gungeon as one of several different character classes, each of which has a different starting weapon and different skills. You must explore each floor, finding weapons, dispatching gun-themed enemies, and discovering more about the mysterious Gungeon. Along the way, there are plenty of secrets to find and permanent upgrades to unlock, just as a roguelike should be.
If you want to claim your free copy of Kingdom: New Lands, all you'll need is an Epic Games Store account. Once you've made one, simply head over to the Kingdom: New Lands page on the Epic Store and click the "Free" button. Following that, just click "Place order" and it's yours to keep. Pretty swish, huh? Epic has been offering free games each week during its Mega Sale event. The sale is running through June 13, so after Enter the Gungeon it'll be back to a free game every two weeks. Still, that's not too shabby.
