Kingdom Hearts 4

Kingdom Hearts 4 is coming, we know that now. For the last two weeks that's pretty much all we've known, but now we know a little about what to expect from the latest title in the Kingdom Hearts franchise. Probably the biggest news from a leaked Famitsu article is that the Neo: The World Ends with You writer, Akiko Ishibashi, is working on Kingdom Hearts 4. This is good news considering the writing in Neo was praised, and how... interesting the series has become in recent entries. Hopefully, with someone like Ishibashi helping out Tetsuya Nomura and Masaru Oka, the story will be a lot more clear and concise for players. Given that this is a Kingdom Hearts game, this is probably just wishful thinking.

What else was leaked for Kingdom Hearts 4?

The next time Kingdom Hearts 4 is shown it will probably be running on Unreal Engine 5, which was announced along with the game announcement they would be migrating the game too. For a game that is a long way out, this makes a lot of sense. Other news includes whether the girl from Quadratum, Nameless Star, appears in KH4 or not is a secret. Also, the Five Masters besides Luxu have all vanished, and the Lost Masters will be an enemy faction like Organization XIII was.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, basically Quadratum is a version of the afterlife. However, for those actually living there, it's their real world. A hypothetical scenario might have characters like Donald or Goofy make their way there and meet up with Hades. Hades would then presumably give players an exposition dump about the true afterlife and the fictional worlds that inhabit it, like Verum Rex and Star Wars.

Oh, and in case you're wondering this is also the last news we'll be getting from KH4 for a while because the focus is on game development right now. Given how long of a wait it was from KH2 to KH3, it's definitely not coming soon.

Thanks, Ryokutya and Xenosaga 7.
