During the KFG E3 2019 showcase this Monday, we saw a new trailer for CastleStorm II, a new tower defense game by Zen Studios, slated for a 2019 release. The trailer shows parts of a top-down map and resource management mode, followed by 2D battles with the usual tower defense mechanics and battle effects, with plenty of physics-based siege tactics and other means of attack and defense. The original CastleStorm was released back in 2013, and now a sequel is back to build upon that foundation a deliver a more robust tower defense game.
The premise for CastleStorm II is that an undead threat has risen, intent on vanquishing humanity to the last, and only you can stop them, of course. If you prefer, however, you can choose to control the hellish monstrosities against the living rather than annihilate them. The game won't judge you for it. Just as the original 2013 CastleStorm, the sequel will offer a unique medieval mix of tower defense, pointy projectiles, and skull-crushing action. CastleStorm II will include more modes, more play styles, more mythical races, and even more sheep.
Although it wasn't announced during the showcase as such, it appears that CastleStorm II will be an Epic Games Store exclusive, as you can already see the game page on the store here, where it includes plenty of details, screenshots, and even the minimum and recommended requirements. Since the game is developed with the Unreal Engine 4, it makes sense that Epic Games have recruited it into its fold, though it's strange that we didn't see it during the PC Gaming Show earlier today, which Epic Games Store sponsored.
CastleStorm II will release in 2019 for PC on Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
