The KFG showcase gives us our first trailer for Police Stories, which brings a top-down shooter with a crime-saga story to the Nintendo Switch. Preorders are now available for the game which releases on September 19, 2019.
Police Stories tells the story of John Rimes and Rick Jones, a pair of police officers who spend their time infiltrating gang hideouts, rescuing hostages and dealing with life-threatening situations. The game boasts a surrender system so that with warning shots or melee blows you can make foes surrender to be arrested. There's a variety of lawbreakers and each time you play an event they are randomly placed in different locations along with evidence and hostages so that every run is unique.
Actions are scored in real time, and playing too aggressively can end up with you not having enough points to move onto the next mission. That said, to help you tackle them you'll have a variety of equipment like under-the-door cameras, door blast charges and more. To help you beyond that, you'll have online co-op so that you can play with a friend and hopefully with two minds pick up a better score then one can do on their own. If you are on your own, however, John can issue orders to Rick to help better take control of situations.
The gameplay trailer shows a title that looks like an odd mashup of SWAT and Hotline Miami. You'll need to keep your mind sharp in Police Stories and save your bullets, take down enemies quietly and smartly if you want to advance. Take a look at the trailer below
Police Stories will release on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch for $14.99
