During the Star Wars Celebration today, Respawn gave us our first look at their upcoming action game Jedi: Fallen Order.
Jedi: Fallen Order is an action-melee game. Players take the role of Cal Kestis (played by actor Cameron Monaghan), a young Padawan in hiding with a lightsaber and force powers. The gameplay focus is to create an easy-to-pick-up game with depth in combat. This requires you to properly assess opponents and identify their weaknesses.
The panel focused more on the story elements of Jedi: Fallen Order. You can see in the trailer above that Cal works on a scrapper on a planet named Bracca. He and a crew of workers take apart old Republic ships. Cal's Jedi powers are eventually discovered and is hunted down by the Empire.
It looks like Cal is joined by a robot companion named BD-1. BD-1 will have tools and upgrades that can be found throughout the campaign. One tool BD has is a spotlight. Its sound is designed by Ben Burtt, the original sound designer for the Star Wars movies.
Purge Troopers will be one of the enemies in Jedi: Fallen Order. This is a brand new trooper type that are specially trained to fight Jedi. They have an electrified staff. The Second Sister, an Inquisitor of the Galactic Empire, appears to be a main antagonist with the role to kill Cal.
Earlier today we reported that the release date for Jedi: Fallen Order was leaked. The game is slated to launch later this year on November 15th, 2019. We have learned that this is the accurate release date, launching for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on Origin.
