This week's Humble Bundle keeps up with the current news and supports the Freedom of the Press Foundation following the terrorism which killed 12 people at Charlie Hebdo, Paris.
The Bundle which has sold over 10,000 copies on the first day, contains several games created by French developers. The base level includes Type:Rider a typographical based adventure by BulkyPix , where two dots travel through a font based world in a very Limbo-esque side scroller, Finding Teddy, a pixelart based fantasy game and revival of the point and click adventure genre, in which a girl travels through her fantasy to recover her lost Teddy, and finally Little Big Adventure for android, an action RPG based on the 1994 classic.
At the $6 tier you can enjoy FarSky a first-person sandbox adventure, where you scour the ocean floor, looking for parts to repair your submarine and return to the surface, Strike Vector a brutal aerial FPS with a steep learning curve inspired by Quake 3, and finally Homeland an audiobook read by Star Trek actor Wil Wheaton. This last choice is particularly curious as Wheaton has previously spoken out against the anonymity of the internet, while some believe that with the culture of present where your employers can be contacted simply for tweeting statements others disagree with, that the only way one can discuss controversial topics is anonymously.
This offers ends on the 29th January 11am Pacific time so make sure you pick your bundle up soon. The bundle which has raised almost $50,000 already for the Freedom of the Press Foundation, a charitable organisation which supports "public interest journalism" working on exposing corruption and promoting transparency a hot button topic of the moment. The bundle is already proving popular in France and the current top donator at $200 for the bundle is Maxime Rouquet vice-chairperson of the European Pirate Party which states "defence of the internet as a common good and public unity" as one of its primary goals.
