Jackbox Games has teased an announcement for Jackbox Party Pack 6. On Twitter and an accompanying video, a release window of “fall” is given, with details to come at their panel at PAX East on Saturday. The image in Twitter has a variety of dogs coming towards the camera, many with their tongues out.
However, this was only a teaser announcement, not a full detailing of Jackbox Party Pack 6. We do not know what kind of games will be added or the number of games. The numbers 6 and 12 were thrown out on the announcement stream, but it seemed to be in jest. “If I joke and I'm like "12 games!", it'll be on Twitter tomorrow" developer Ben Jacobs said.
This will be the first party pack since October. Our review of Jackbox Party Pack 5 was positive, noting that many of the new games were great, as well as the return of the straight trivia mode You Don’t Know Jack. Like the other games in the series, players will compete in trivia and minigames that are put on a TV, but played along with on any device with a web browser. This allows each player to have their own screen for secrecy, strategy, and humor. Currently, the games are available on Windows, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.
The panel will happen at PAX East in Boston on Saturday at 6:30 pm Eastern Time. It will be streamed on Twitch. Jacobs also teased guests, such as the inventor of McDonald’s spaghetti and professional wrestler Xavier Woods.
Quick Take
This should be a fun party pack. The previous entries in the series have been mostly fun, though I would say they’re best in a large group of at least eight people for maximum effect. Even four people doesn’t quite have the same effect.
