Hyper Gunsport and Gunhouse developer Necrosoft Games has put together the Itch.io Ukraine Bundle to provide medical aid and support for children affected by the Russia-Ukraine War.

Like many online gaming storefronts, Itch.io provides developers with the ability to put together bundles. Indie devs have used this ability to create charity bundles in the past, supporting causes of varying stripes including legal defense and a community bail fund, aid for Palestine, and LGBTQ+ developers. Now, a group of indie devs is turning their attention towards supporting Ukraine.

How the Itch.io Ukraine Bundle Helps People

Aside from getting you a whole bunch of great games, the Itch.io Ukraine Bundle is going to split its proceeds evenly between two charities according to the bundle announcement from Necrosoft Games.

International Medical Corps. https://internationalmedicalcorps.org/country/ukraine/
They provide medical aid and training in the field, and have ongoing operations in Ukraine now. They have very low fundraising overhead (1% of income), with 89% of donations going to medical aid and 10% to administration. Honestly I don't mind them paying their workers.

Voices of Children. https://voices.org.ua/en/who-we-are/
This is a Ukrainian organization that helps children cope with the horrors of war, PTSD, readjusting to school, and things like that. As they are not an international organization I don't have insight into their financials, but they have a really positive message, they've been in foreign news so may have had some vetting there, and I really wanted to help an org that is actually Ukrainian. If anyone has information I should know about them, please reach out.

The Itch.io Ukraine Bundle will exclusively include paid games and other projects from Itch.io. Here is a small selection of the games that will be featured in the bundle:

  • Celeste - Help Madeline in her adventure to conquer her inner demons by climbing Celeste Mountain, a big chunk of rock that's filled with deviously-challenging platforming sections.
  • A Short Hike - Play as an adorable bird and explore the peaceful wilderness. You can explore, fish, collect treasures, and meet other hikers in this cozy adventure.
  • Toree 3D - Blast through nine levels of 3D platforming in a classic 90's aesthetic with low-poly graphics. There's a fair amount to explore here, and you can unlock a couple of secret characters, too!
  • Wandersong - Use the power of singing to save the world! Interact with a colorful world using the power of music.

Ultimately, the bundle contains a total of 991 items. You can buy the Bundle for Ukraine at Itch.io right now starting at the price of $9.99 or your regional equivalent, but don't delay -- there's a little over 10 days before this deal is gone for good. If you can afford to donate more, the developers urge you to do so, as all income from this is donated to the two charities.
