It looks like Rockstar Games' Agent is finally dead -- the web page for this unreleased game has been removed from the company's website in advance of its GTA Trilogy Remastered preparations.
Earlier today, dataminers discovered quite a few interesting tidbits about an upcoming remaster of the 3D-era Grand Theft Auto games, building further on a rating of the games by the Korean equivalent of the ESRB. The datamined information was discovered in a new update to the Rockstar Launcher. It also appears that Rockstar Games has made a minor update to its website -- the web page for its unreleased game Agent is gone.
Web Page for Rockstar Games' Agent Finally Disappears
The web page for Rockstar Games' Agent was online as recently as September 11, 2021, as shown on the Internet Archive. Try to head to the Agent website today, however, and you'll be redirected to the Rockstar Games home page.
The removal of this web page is a pretty good indication that Rockstar has finally given up on this project (at least for now), but it's not the only evidence. Back in 2018, GameSpot reported that the US Patent and Trademark Office changed the status of the game's trademark as "Abandoned."
Not much was actually known about Rockstar Games' Agent. The game was going to be a PS3 exclusive and would involve spies somehow. Some screenshots and concept art leaked in recent years, but we never got much in the way of substantive details about this game.
To this day, it's unclear why Agent was never released -- Rockstar Games certainly had no shortage of cash to pay for this game's development. Whatever the reason may be, it looks like we can finally call this project dead. Alas, we hardly knew ye.
Do you think Rockstar Games' Agent would have been as good as the Grand Theft Auto or Red Dead Redemption games? What do you think the game would have been like? Let us know in the comments below!
