CBE Software has shifted their release date of Someday You'll Return due to the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing. The title was originally supposed to release on April 14, but it's now launching on May 5, 2020 for PC.
Someday You'll Return is a psychological horror title about a father's desperate search for his daughter. The game takes place in the Czech Republic using a Czech Forest setting to create a unique mood for players. In game mechanics include crafting, herbalism, smartphone interactions, a karmic system (which will influence the game's ending), climbing, tracking, and stealth.
“Having to make the decision to delay the launch of Someday You’ll Return has been very difficult for us at CBE Software. The beta testing of the game has gone great, the game is almost ready to be released and we were really looking forward to launch this month. However, there are some elements that were just not possible with the current crisis which have set us back. The most important thing is that everyone stays safe and does everything they can to minimize exposure to Covid-19. While we’re disappointed to have to wait to bring you our game, the health and safety of everyone involved is paramount.” says CBE
Software co-founder Jan Kavan.
Kavan originally thought that they would have to postpone the release date for months, but "thankfully" that was not the case, as CBE Software finished their recording sessions remotely so that the game would release with only a minor delay. To do so, they used "organizational tools and technology"... whatever that means. Psst! You can just say Discord and Audacity, CBE Software. We won't judge.
