As part of Marvel's new strategy to venture deeper into the gaming world, they partnered up with Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Camouflaj to reveal Iron Man VR to the world. We got to see the first official glimpse of the title back in March 2019, during SIE's first "State of Play." The title is set to bring an all-new story to the universe, and even a new suit design.
Unfortunately, not everything goes according to plan. Iron Man VR was set to release around late 2019-early 2020, which made people who already pre-ordered the title anxious of no apparent news on its actual release date. Developer Camouflaj finally revealed the title has been delayed to May 2020, to give the development team more time to polish and make sure the title is up to standard with what Marvel fans expect.
In order to deliver on our vision and meet the high expectations of our amazing community, we’ve made the difficult decision to move Marvel’s Iron Man VR to a May 15, 2020 release. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding. You’ll be hearing from us again soon!
Hopefully, Iron Man VR is the last title from Marvel to face some development setbacks, as Marvel's Avengers is another video game coming our way in 2020. The latter is set for a September release window. Although we haven't seen a lot from it, the trailers confirmed the likeness of the famous Hollywood cast aren't in the video game and will introduce an original story as well. Delays aren't an uncommon practice nowadays in the gaming industry, so this type of news doesn't come as a surprise anymore. We hope this delay benefits the development team to deliver an unforgettable experience as the man in the iron suit. Let us know which Marvel superhero you think deserves the VR treatment.
