This isn't a repeat of news, but it does sound similar to yesterday's, where The Internet Archive released hundreds of old consoles games that can be played in your web browser. This time, The Internet Archive has released hundreds of classic arcade games from the 1970s-1990s in an area they call The Internet Arcade.

The Internet Arcade gives you access to many classics, like Street Fighter II, but also access to many more you have likely never even heard of, let alone seen. Just like yesterday, you all now have the opportunity to experience some video game history.

Most of the games should have sound, but, similar to yesterday, they may only work in certain web browsers. So far users have claimed they work in Chrome, Internet Explorer 11, and Safari. It is unknown whether support for other popular web browsers will become available.

You can also leave reviews for games right on the website as well as giving it a rating.

Most of the games listed there will have some kind of description attached to them telling you what they are about. Some even give you a little bit of their history and talk about the year they came out. The Internet Arcade is a great tool to researching and understanding some of gaming's origins and how it evolved over time. Where some will be interested just to play the game, The Internet Arcade should prove a serious resource to students of video game history.

Whether more games will be added to The Internet Arcade in the future is unknown at the moment, but one would imagine that The Internet Archive will leave that possibility open for the future. So if you know there is an arcade game you haven't seen in years, but it isn't included, just hope it may be added in the future!

Go experience a piece of video game history at The Internet Arcade!
