At Inside Xbox today, Ubisoft revealed the new PvP mode for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint called Ghost War. This mode is a 4v4 mode that features 2 different maps, with four different classes on mode along with the new features from the campaign being integrated such as the cover and injury systems. The four classes at launch are Assault, Panther, Sharpshooter, and Medic.
Ghost War also nods to the Battle Royale genre, making use of the closing circle of gameplay that brings the match to a climactic conclusion as fits for one of the modes - namely the Elimination team deathmatch mode. There is another mode that comes at launch - Sabotage is an asymmetrical bomb mode, where players are split into attackers and defenders, a bit like Counter Strike. There will be 6 maps at launch for the action to take place across.
Beyond integrating features from the campaign, Ghost Recon Breakpoint's Ghost War will also have shared PvP/PvE progression. Players progress in both there with the same character and unlocked classes, skills, items, and weapons. That said, there will be some specific tuning for PvP to ensure a better-balanced PvP experience.
Making use of what the developers learned working on Ghost Recon Wildlands' PvP, Ghost War like improved detection and removed class restrictions per team. Ghost War will have dedicated servers, reduced loading screens, and improved matchmaking.
Ghost War is expected to get a lot of post-launch support with new maps, classes, weapons, and modes expected to come.
You'll be able to play Ghost War during the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint beta taking place September 5-8. You can sign up for the beta, and people who pre-order any edition of the game will gain access to the beta.
