Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX.

Alex Kidd is an 80s gaming icon, and fans of the era and platformers in general are going to be able to play a revitalized classic with the unveiling of Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX.

IGN's Summer of Gaming Expo revealed an HD remake of the original and first Alex Kidd game. Called Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX, this polished and pretty pixel platformer features new visuals and new features.

Players can experience both the new visuals and old 1986 graphics. The trailer also boasts new levels and modes, and "alternate boss fights" too. Since this is an HD remaster through and through, Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX has a remastered soundtrack , too.

Developed by Jankenteam in collaboration with co-developer and publisher Merge Games, Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX is slated to launch in Q1 2021. You can also check out the game's Steam page right now; however, there is no price listed at this time.

Quick Take

We knew of an HD remaster for an old classic, but I didn't expect Alex Kidd. I'm a fan of the vibrant and color visuals from the original game, although I've never played it myself. Merge Games and Jankenteam have done an excellent job of recreating it for a modern audience. I could gush over pixel art for hours, and Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX is no exception. I've noticed some wonderful lighting effects in the trailer as well. Pixel platformers are my jam, so maybe it's time for me to try out this series for the first time.
