During a tanabata festival live broadcast Bandai Namco made the announcement that their Idolmaster series would be getting the VR treatment. Idolmaster Cinderella Girls Viewing Revolution will be released as a PlayStation VR launch title on October 13th in Japan. A trailer for the VR game can be watched below.
https://youtu.be/mskYTgaMAkc The third Cinderella Girls game in the much longer running Idolmaster franchise, Idolmaster Cinderella Girls Viewing Revolution will include the Maihama Amphitheatre, a theater in the Tokyo Disney Resort. Nine idols are included in the game and can be seen in the trailer and screenshots. Some of the girls look very similar to previous game characters but there’s nowhere near the over 190 collectible characters that THE iDOLM@STER: Cinderella Girls boasted. The cute fairy tale themed idol group has inspired manga and anime spin-offs and will now be coming to PlayStation VR in October.
Previous Cinderella Girls games have been free to play mobile games using collectible cards to build and train performing groups. Other games in the Idolmaster series include mini and rhythm games along with decision making to create a “raising simulation” or “idol manager” style game in which players take on the role of producer and must raise an idol or group of idols to stardom. The trailer insinuates that players will be able to interactively watch Cinderella Girls virtual concerts but little more details on the gameplay have been divulged.
An article in Famitsu explains that players will be able to manipulate the “concert light” as is seen in the trailers, presumably with motion sensors. More screenshots show the adorable group of idols dancing on the Maihama Amphitheatre. Whether Idolmaster Cinderella Girls Viewing Revolution will simply be a virtual idol concert experience or a full Idolmaster game is anyone's guess.
