Twitter is exploding with the new development regarding a tweet by ICE T showing his support of gamers and creators. Even though he is not a member of the movement, he stands by the same principles as those behind the activism hashtag known as GamerGate. GamerGate is a hashtag people use to stand for many things, including anti censorship activism, media ethics activism, and video game integrity. Today, ICE T has came out very pro Gamer and has given his opinion on the media. He has tweeted very openly about free speech. It started with a tweet on 9:16 PM (21:16 24h) (21:16 24h) – 26 Aug 2015.
Most celebs. Have no opinions, won’t stand their ground and will say ANYTHING to try and make people like them.. I’m different. ZERO FUCKS— ICE T (@FINALLEVEL) August 27, 2015
A prominent YouTube commentator known as MundaneMatt quoted his tweet and challenged him on his principles, which many re-tweeted, including The Ralph Retort. After ICE T asked what GamerGate is and getting a host of responses, ICE T has made it quite clear that he will not push an agenda driven narrative to make people feel better.
Look Gamers.. Play your games. FUCK the press. And keep it moovin. The press will ALWAYS be the Enemy…… Always.— ICE T (@FINALLEVEL) August 27, 2015
ICE T has also openly illustrated the lengths some lazy reporters will go to in order to promote their avaricious ideology over reporting who, what, where, when, how, and why. He has faced backlash from the media over his hit album, Body Count, and other examples of free artistic expression, and has chosen to speak out again as he did twenty three years ago.
The press has gone to Great lengths to end my career.. And Im still here.. Fuck em.. Let me say that again Fuck em.— ICE T (@FINALLEVEL) August 27, 2015
This isn’t the first time ice dealt with slactivist reporters, however. In fact, he released a track called Freedom of Speech on Body count to illustrate, both, what freedom of speech actually means, and to express his fears of complete censorship in other things, not just music. The lyrics speak for themselves.
Freedom of speech, that's some motherfuckin' bullshit. You say the wrong thing, they'll lock your ass up quick. The FCC says "profanity – no airplay"? They can suck my dick while I take a shit all day
In verse four, however, he dropped some bombs that, ironically, are starting to come true in the form of political correctness and safe spaces.
Freedom of speech, let 'em take it from me, next they'll take it from you, then what you gonna do? Let 'em censor books, let 'em censor art Pmrc, this is where the witch hunt starts. You'll censor what we see, we read, we hear, we learn. The books will burn.
GamerGate remains to advocate another year and that is glorious for art and creators of any medium. In the age of bomb threats to derail a conference about journalistic ethics, GamerGate had a pretty smashing birthday present.
