Scheduled for release this summer, the game Stray won't be limited to digital copies. The media production known as Iam8bit Inc. has announced it is working on a physical edition of the game. Revealed in a tweet, the company shows a mock-up of the game box showcasing the game's main character and a note stating that it includes six full-color art cards. At the time of the announcement, this Stray edition will only be available for PlayStation 5.
What is the Stray Release Date?
With a teaser trailer released in 2020, Stray has a definitive release date scheduled for July 19th this year. As shown in its reveal, the game will be available for download on PC via online markets like Steam and on PS4/5 through the PlayStation Store. However, despite it originally being digitally exclusive, the creators at Iam8bit are showing support for the game by creating physical copies. It's currently unknown whether it will be ready by the game's release date or what the art card will look like.
The Stray game has generated a sizable community with over 30k followers on the official @HKdevblog Twitter. It follows the adventures of a nameless stray cat as they explore a futuristic city populated by humans and robots. The cat is lost and alone but must solve an ancient mystery in order to escape a city that is slowly falling apart. With gameplay from a third-person perspective, it will include elements of platforming, stealth, and puzzle-solving. Players will also have to deal with a number of enemies and hazards by either running or hiding and waiting for the threat to pass.
The digital version of the game is already available for pre-purchase with Steam offering a 10% discount. Though Iam8bit is still working on a physical edition of the Stray game, it's uncertain whether it will share its $29.99 price tag. Stray will also be releasing day one on PS Plus Extra for no extra charge to those subscribed.
