We've known about the Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Expansion Pass for a little while now, but what was actually coming in the pass was a mystery. Now, Nintendo has revealed some of the things players can expect to see in the coming months.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a hack-and-slash game done in the style of Dynasty Warriors — that should come as no surprise considering that it was published by Koei Tecmo. Players get to experience a time long before the events of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the WIld with a somewhat different kind of gameplay. The Expansion Pass was first announced earlier this year as a continuation of Nintendo's willingness to release more premium post-launch content — and it looks like some pretty cool stuff is on the way.
What to Expect in the Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Expansion Pass
The Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Expansion Pass is going to be split into two parts, although you won't have to wait too long to get something out of your purchase — a special purchase bonus is being made available in advance of the Wave 1 release.
Anyone who buys the Expansion Pass will secure themself some new goodies for Link: the "Prototype Ancient Gear" costume and the "Prototype Ancient Short Sword" weapon according to a tweet from Nintendo. Beyond there, we have a little more info about what's coming in the pass itself.
Wave 1 – Pulse of the Ancients
Wave 1 of the Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Expansion Pass will launch sometime in June 2021, although players can get the bonus purchase content on May 28, 2021. Here's what's coming in the first wave:
- Expanded roster
- Newly added weapon types
- New challenges in the Royal Ancient Lab
- Newly added challenging enemies
Wave 2 – Guardian of Remembrance
Wave 2 of the Expansion Pass will continue to add new content, further expanding the roster and adding some new stages as well.
- New character vignettes
- Newly added stages
- Expanded roster
- New battle skills for existing characters
This is certainly a pretty cool batch of content on the way!
