Developer health issues will see HuniePop 2 delayed even longer than it already has been. Developer Ryan Koons is dealing with some longtime issues cropping back up, and that means that the game's release is being pushed back.
If you haven't been keeping up with HuniePop 2, this is the sequel to 2016's HuniePop, a game that melds visual novels, dating sims, and match-3 gameplay into a strangely-addicting game filled with anime tiddies and lewd humor. This newest game is primed to introduce double dates and several other new features.
Thus far, the HuniePop 2 release date had not been officially announced beyond "coming soon". Originally slated for a late 2019 release, it was delayed into 2020 as HuniePot wrapped up production on the game. Now, it seems that the game is going to be delayed even further.
Why Was HuniePop 2 Delayed?
Developer Ryan Koons shared a message via the company's official Twitter account explaining the delay.
"Hey guys," the statement began. "Unfortunately, it seems I have once again developed a serious health condition (akin to my mid-2017 health issues, if you've been following that long) that will delay HP2, an already very delayed game, more."
"I sincerely apologize," he continued. "I don't know how long it will take me to fully recover, but I must prioritize my health for however long the healing process may take."
While the HuniePop 2 release date delay is certainly depressing news for some, Mr. Koons remains confident that the game will come out. It's awfully close to being complete, so hopefully we won't have to wait too long to play it.
"[Huniepop 2] (as you can see from the gameplay trailer) is mostly done, it will come out, and it will be epic."
