Humble Choice, a monthly subscription service from Humble, will be offering less support starting next month on February 1st, 2022. This is because they will be shifting their focus to Windows-only and cutting access to the Linux and Mac operating systems. A new PC launcher will be released as well, which must be used in order to access and download Humble Choice, Humble Trove, and Humble Games Collection titles on and after that date.

Humble originally launched in 2010 with decent support for all three operating systems, so to see them backtracking in an era where Steam is doing its best to make its entire library playable on Linux is a baffling choice. It isn't their first baffling move in recent memory either, as Humble also DMAC'ed tweets with images of its games back in June 2021

As spotted by Neowin, current subscribers to the service received an email stating that they wanted to give their subscribers a "heads up" about the move, stating that "Mac and Linux version of the DRM-free games on Humble Trove will no longer be available." Subscribers will have up until January 31, 2022 to download any games they wish to keep.

A blog post on the site states that in an effort to simply how Humble works, they'll be offering one plan for $11.99 which will allow players access to all the games available that month and not having player choose between which ones they want. It will be called the Humble Games Collection, and these games will be available in February, with more being added monthly:

Interestingly, there is no mention of Mac or Linux losing support in either the blog post or the FAQ that Humble have posted. We'll have to see if that continues to be the case going forward.

What do you think of this news? Are you playing Humble Games on Linux or Mac? Let us know in the comments!

A very unflattering picture of my tired face.
