In the best deal since Cyber Monday, the Microsoft Store has not only cut the price on the HTC Vive by $100 but is also offering a $100 Gift Card bonus. This is the hottest offer on the Vive to date, last seen only on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

When one sees this discount to $699, someone might end up asking themselves... Why spend $599 on the Oculus Rift, when I could get the more feature-packed HTC Vive for only $100 more instead of the usual $200 more? It's a valid question you can now ask yourself with Microsoft's deal. Additionally, the Rift if you're wanting to have motion controls has additional expenses for the Oculus Touch.

Note that Microsoft Store does offer you the same $100 bonus gift code on the Oculus Rift as you'll find on the HTC Vive. The only difference, of course, is that the Oculus Rift does not have a $100 discount and is at full list price. Regardless, both systems are definitely far from the realm of an impulse purchase as you'll need a respectable gaming rig to power either units.

Standard 3-7 business day shipping is free at the Microsoft Store but fast shipping options aren't very expensive. Bumping up to 'select' shipping costs $4.99 and gets it to you in 3-5 days, while the most expensive 'express' shipping is only $16.99, which is isn't terrible for 1-2 business day delivery.

Microsoft Store has listed a December 27 expiration date for the $100 discount. For the $100 gift card, it looks like both units will have the deal through the end of the year or when supply last (hint: supply will last).
