Gato Studio, the developer and publisher behind their Bioware-inspired RPG The Waylanders, seem to be very keen on checking every box that fans would expect from a Bioware RPG with the addition of romances in the newest Waylanders update. Given that Dragon Age 4 and the next Mass Effect are a long ways off, if players want their Bioware RPG fix this looks to be one of the few options available for a long while.
Added in the August The Waylanders Update 0.34b, romances will be able to be conducted with "no limitations in terms of race, class, or gender." Within this system, each decision will impact the character's perception of you. Once you are seen as attractive enough, players will then be able to talk about their feelings and start a romance if the attraction is shared between them.

For those that have been playing The Waylanders before now, old saved games work with the newly-added romance system, but some characters require specific quests that players may have gone through already. If that's case, it's recommended that players start a new game.
What else is new for The Waylanders?
As the game was previously delayed until Fall 2021, it makes sense that the new release date would be November 16, 2021. I mean, it's the Fall, after all. There's also more than 50 new items that have been added to the game, ranging from weapons, armors, shields, and equipment. There's also Steam achievements added for those strange and mysterious people that like to trophy hunt, more entries added to the Codex, and some bug stomping in the tutorial, cinematics, and inventory.
If you want to check out the game before The Waylanders fully releases on Steam on November 16, 2021, it's available right now for 20% off at $27.99.
