Horizon Zero Dawn is off to a good start. Reports are coming in that the PlayStation 4 exclusive by Guerrilla games has sold over 2.6 million units worldwide during its first two weeks at launch. This coincides with the game being the top selling title in the U.K the week of launch, and one of the highest selling new IPs in the past few years.

This makes Horizon Zero Dawn the best new IP launch for the PS4 to date, as well as one of the most successful titles from Guerrilla games since the release of Killzone in 2004.

SIE Worldwide Studios Chairman Shawn Layden has been ecstatic about the success of the title, noting that the critical reaction, coupled with the level of sales from these reports, is "gratifying" to Sony.  "Guerrilla has created a game that is nothing short of exceptional, and the reaction we have seen from fans," stated Layden. "From hours and hours of gameplay streaming to endless photo sharing – shows just how impactful it has been."

The big sales numbers are just the start of more good news for the title. Guerrilla's managing director Herman Hulst, noted that the company is already working on a story expansion to Horizon Zero Dawn, although no more details have been released at this time.

Like Layden, Hulst is satisfied with the games success. "We're thrilled that Horizon Zero Dawn has been embraced by critics and players alike. Developing the game was a labor of love, so it's extremely satisfying to see that it elicits the same passion and enthusiasm from the gaming public that we felt during its development."

Horizon Zero Dawn was released two weeks ago, on February 28th. You can check out some guides for the game here, and our review for the title is coming soon.
